Where in the hell am I?

New host, same old same old

Colleen convinced me to move to WordPress, so here it is. Once I get some time, I’ll try and make this a little fancier of a blog. For now, wysiwyg.

Been in Austin/the office for over a week. It’s been good because I got to have some friend time, get my hair cut, and see KRS-One at Mohawk (although to be honest, it was really good but not as great as I had hoped). I’ve also been writing the report for all the Louisiana nonsense. It’s hard to write for eight hours a day. I probably get somewhere in the neighborhood of six actual hours of writing done. I was told by someone that I’m ahead of a lot of people in our company as far as that goes. I’m sure the client doesn’t expect eight full hours of writing, I mean, there has to be time for stretching and thinking and using the bathroom and interacting with others and checking email.

Anyway, that’s almost over, because I’m being shipped back to East Texas to help out with the huge pipeline project again. I was told I was too valuable to send out there as a crew chief. I suppose that is so, because I’m going out as an assistant/apprentice field director instead. Lots of logisitics and utility clearance and interaction with the clients and direction of crews and QA/QC (quality assurance/quality control, or “quack” as I like to say), and very little field time. But, it’s greater responsibility and per diem seven days a week and likely lots of overtime. Realistically, it’s probably just a peek into my future.

  1. Whee, you’re all important-y and responsible! Also, I have to say that I love how many of my friends have multiple degrees. Yay for education and achievement.

  2. If you really decide you hate it, you’ve (well, both of you) got an in with Haun on Kona. I’m just saying…

  3. Woot, welcome to wordpress! I hope you like it.

KRS-One bay area concerts are like $60.

  4. It was $25 each here, which is probably another reason I’d find it hard not living in Austin.
